Park Sheridan Timeline and Summary

  • Park makes room for Eleanor on the bus and sets the wheels in motion for a friendship that quickly turns into much more.
  • Park finds himself falling for Eleanor, and he watches as she reads his comics and writes names of bands and songs on her books. Without even striking up a conversation, Park starts leaving comic books on the bus for her. Then, he makes her a mix tape and gives her his headphones on the bus so she can listen.
  • Park eventually invites Eleanor home, but his mom doesn't like her at first. It doesn't help that Park gets suspended for high-kicking Steve, who was bullying Eleanor on the bus; his parents are furious.
  • After Park's beautician mom gives Eleanor a makeover, Park puts on eyeliner himself, and decides to wear it all the time. Park's dad doesn't like this.
  • Park's parents eventually get to know and like Eleanor, and Park and Eleanor spend all their time together after school at Park's house. When Park gets his driver's license, Park's mom encourages them to go out alone on a date.
  • After the date, Eleanor discovers that her stepdad's found out about Park. Park immediately offers to drive her wherever she needs to go. He tells his dad, who gives him the keys to the truck—Park's finally learned stick-shift after months of frustrating lessons.
  • Park drives Eleanor to her uncle's house and has to say goodbye. He writes her tons of letters, but she doesn't answer for months, until she finally sends a postcard.
