Character Analysis
Mr. Stessman is Eleanor and Park's honors English teacher. He seems a little bit clueless—Park laments that "only Mr. Stessman would make a chubby girl read a poem about eating on her first day of class" (3.18)—but at the same time, Mr. Stessman seems to see something special in Eleanor. He constantly praises her talent for reciting poetry, and declares that the class couldn't possibly read Macbeth without her.
