Joel and Clementine

This is an easy one: Joel and Clem are the perfect foils. Joel is shy and timid and nice. He wants to please people and not stand out. Clem is wilder and more adventurous. She says what she's thinking and does what she wants. At first, these two make up for one another's deficiencies, but soon they can't stand what makes the other person different—which is the same thing they were attracted to in the first place.
