The Coen Brothers have a huge following: they're indie, idiosyncratic (there's that word again) filmmakers that became big enough to transcend being "cult" directors. They're like Quentin Tarantino and Wes Anderson that way. They do what they want, nab Oscar nominations (and sometimes awards), and get away with it.

While you couldn't say that Fargo has as big a cult following as the Coens' The Big Lebowski does, (since dressing up in a snow gear police uniform isn't nearly as fun as popping on a bathrobe and going bowling) it definitely has serious fans.

The rise of the acclaimed Fargo TV Series adds another layer, even though the TV Series is actually the creation of a guy named Noah Hawley, and wasn't written or directed by the Coens. It has plenty of call-backs and references to the movie—check out this article about all the "Easter eggs" hidden in the series for more on Hawley's Coen-emulation.

The town of Fargo itself makes it easy for fans to relive their favorite moments. Dying to see the actual woodchipper used in the film? The Fargo-Moorhead Visitors Center is glad to oblige. You can even get your picture taken with it… though not (thankfully) in it. Fans can get their hands on t-shirts, postcards, and other Fargo essentials—although you can't get a 3-cent stamp designed by Norm Gunderson.
