Character Role Analysis
Nia
Nia and Bobby are very clearly the romantic heart of the novel. The first time we see Nia, she tells Bobby that she's pregnant. Which means that they, um, know each other in the biblical sense. It's more than that, though; Nia and Bobby journey through the pregnancy together, and while Bobby might not take as large a role as he would like to, he very much loves Nia and the baby growing inside her. In fact, his love for her is one reason that he decides to keep Feather. So even though Nia ends up in an irreversible coma, she remains the love interest in Bobby's life.
