Matthew Livingston

From the onset of the novel, Matthew Livingston is portrayed as a veritable high school god. After all, he's hot, athletic, editor of the school newspaper, and rich. What more could a girl ask for? Matthew quickly becomes Frankie's boyfriend and takes his place as the ideal boyfriend smoothly. That is, until Frankie starts to realize that having a boyfriend is a little different from what she thought it'd be. Matthew just sees her as cute, doesn't always tell her the truth, and ditches her for his friends. Is that what a love interest is supposed to do?
