Pharaoh

Figure Analysis

Wanted: A Right Hand Man

Pharaoh (a.k.a. the king of Egypt), has some troubling nightmares, and can't find anyone to help until he hears through the grapevine that a stellar dream interpreter is locked up in his very own dungeon. Joseph pleases Pharaoh by explaining his dreams and ends up as second in command.

Pharaoh's defining characteristics include: arbitrary ruthlessness (40:20-23); knowing greatness when he sees it (41:38-40); and loyalty to those who perform (45:16-20). Sounds like he's either a mafia boss or he's been reading Machiavelli's The Prince.

In case you're wondering, this isn't the same Pharaoh made legend by Charlton Heston in The Ten Commandments. You can meet the inspiration for that king in the book of Exodus.
