Auric Goldfinger (Gert Fröbe)’s Timeline and Summary
- Goldfinger tries to cheat at cards but is foiled by Bond.
- Gold foiled!
- Sorry.
- Goldfinger retaliates by killing his former employee, Jill. Um, this guy has to be violating labor laws.
- On the golf course, Goldfinger is tempted by Bond's gold bar. He tries to cheat at golf to win the gold, but he's about as good at that as he was at cheating with cards.
- Angry, Goldfinger and his henchman, Oddjob, flee to Geneva.
- There, Goldfinger talks about Operation Grand Slam. Unbeknownst to him, Bond listens to the whole plot.
- When Bond trips a wire, he is captured. Goldfinger tortures him by almost cutting him in half with a laser.
- But Bond convinces Goldfinger he's worth more alive. Always looking to maximize his assets, Goldfinger keeps Bond and ships him to his horse farm in Kentucky.
- In Kentucky, Goldfinger reveals Operation Grand Slam to a bunch of gangsters he's in cahoots with. He promises them $10 million each after he robs Fort Knox.
- Then Goldfinger kills the gangsters with nerve gas so that he won't have to pay them one cent.
- Goldfinger, who must not be able to hold his liquor, spills the whole plan to Bond over mint juleps: he won't rob Fort Knox—he'll blow it up. With the U.S. gold destroyed, his own stash will skyrocket in value.
- Of course, Bond stops the plot, but Goldfinger escapes and hides aboard a jet.
- When the jet is in the air, Goldfinger attempts to kill Bond.
- Goldfinger shoots the plane's window and is sucked out when the cabin depressurizes.
- What color is Goldfinger's parachute? Oh, he wasn't wearing a parachute. RIP.
