Neil Klugman

Neil is the narrator of the story and the star. Goodbye, Columbus is framed as his heroic journey of love and adventure in the "new world" of suburbia. His tender relationships with the boy and Aunt Gladys are major factors in gaining readers' sympathy, even though we might take issue with some of the things he says and does to Brenda regarding the diaphragm issue.
