- Lord Jim
Like Heart of Darkness, Joseph Conrad's novel Lord Jim is a tale told by one Captain Marlow—a guy who's clearly had a lot of adventures at sea. This particular tale is about a sailor named Jim who abandons his sinking ship (and all of its passengers) along with the other members of the crew. Nice crew, huh? - Things Fall Apart
Nigerian novelist Chinua Achebe famously criticized Heart of Darkness as racist. Achebe's Things Fall Apart, a novel that also deals with European colonization of Africa, can be read as a critique of Conrad's work.
