Alexander Iden

Character Analysis

Heads will roll around Iden, a gent from Kent. When Jack Cade shows up in his garden, Iden's kind to the rebellious leader, who is obviously famished. Things turn sour, though, when Cade threatens him.

After Iden kills Cade in self-defense, he figures he might as well cash in on it. He takes Cade's head to the king and is knighted. Iden seems rare among the nobles, since he's not involved in the bickering for power in London. He's also fairly kind and reasonable, which many of the other nobles are not (ahem, Suffolk, Beaufort… just to list a few).
