Protagonist
Character Role Analysis
Wife / Husband
Depending on your point of view, either the husband or the wife can be the protagonist… or the antagonist. They both want something—the wife wants reassurance about her marriage, and a sense that they're finally "here," that they've escaped the world of petty squabbling and entered that of a peaceful, domestically content married couple; the husband wants to finally consummate the marriage, and he wants his wife to stop arguing.
He doesn't seem too worried about the longer-term future of their marriage—he's putting all his eggs in the sex basket. Arguably, the wife's problem is more interesting, so you could argue that she's the protagonist and the husband's the antagonist—but we're leaving that up to you.
