Madeleine Pontritter Timeline and Summary

Madeleine meets Moses Herzog when she takes one of his university classes. The two of them soon become close and have a sexual relationship, even though Madeleine is a hardcore Catholic.
Madeleine tries her best to keep her university life and love life separate. She also constantly asks Herzog to get a divorce from his wife, Daisy.
Madeleine and Herzog eventually get married, but Madeleine is disappointed from the start. She and Herzog have a daughter named June. When Herzog drags her up to his home in the Berkshires so he can work on his book, Madeleine feels like the marriage is revolving around him.
Years later, Madeleine has an affair with Herzog's best friend Val. She persuades Herzog to find Val a job in Chicago so he can move there when Madeleine and Herzog go. The affair continues until Madeleine finally kicks Herzog out and asks for a divorce. Not only that, but she takes out a restraining order against Herzog and gets Val to move in with her.
One day, Madeleine finds out that Herzog has been in a car accident while spending the day with her daughter June. She rushes to the police station to find that Herzog was carrying a loaded and concealed weapon when the accident happened. She tries her best to discredit Herzog while still making sure he's in a position to pay alimony to her.
