Character Analysis
Another candidate for the strangest name in Hoot, Chuck E. Muckle is as gross as his name sounds. (Seriously. It sounds like a cat coughing up a hairball.)
Roy thinks that this guy is "snooty-looking" (20.9)—and Roy is generally right on the money when it comes to pegging people's personalities. It's hard to imagine Chuck E. Muckle being genuinely friendly to anybody. He's certainly not nice to anyone in Hoot.
He's abrasive towards Curly, demeaning to Officer Delinko, and completely loses his cool at the groundbreaking ceremony. Even though his job is to make the Mother Paula's brand look good, he ends up making a scene by almost attacking Mullet Fingers with a shovel. We also learn later on that he "lost his temper and tried to strangle a reporter" (21.23).
Jeez. For a guy who holds the title "Mother Paula's vice-president for corporate relations," he doesn't seem to know a whole lot about forging relationships.
