- Hope and Addie walk into the diner, take one look around, and rate it as above average, except for the sorry dessert case.
- Flo, the floor manager, politely waits by their booth and asks them if they're ready to order. She "correctly" answers all of Addie's questions about how the whipped potatoes are prepared and instantly earns Addie's respect.
- Eight big guys enter the diner. They're all wearing VOTE FOR ELI MILLSTONE buttons.
- Hope overhears the men making fun of Yuri, the Russian busboy, and instantly decides that she doesn't like Eli Millstone, whoever he may be.
- After dinner, Hope and Addie move their stuff into the apartment over the diner. As Addie prepares her notes for the next day's meeting with G.T. Stoop, Hope wonders if the cops will ever catch up with Gleason Beal.
- Addie tells Hope to try to forget about Gleason, the guy who conned them out of their money and their jobs. She admits that the move to Mulhoney is their toughest one yet, but they've got to give it their best shot.
- If it still doesn't work out after that, she promises Hope that they'll move on. According to Hope, Addie never breaks a promise.
