Exactly how steamy is this story?
PG
Most of the steam in this novel comes from the piping-hot food served at the Welcome Stairways diner, not from the characters themselves. Hope and Braverman hold hands, hug, and share a kiss that turns up the heat in Hope, but that's as far as it goes. Addie and G.T. fall in love and marry, but the chemistry between them isn't explored.
There's only one reason why Hope Was Here earns the PG rating. Blame it on Jocelyn Lindstrom's "male cuteness scale," where a perfect 10 is defined as "[...] a rugged yet sensitive world-class surfer (preferably wet)." Okay, maybe there's one more reason. After they become a couple, Hope readily admits that Braverman touched the back of her neck in that way that "made me shiver." We can see you blushing out there...
