• Deborah's parents drop her off at the mental hospital after she tries to kill herself.
• Dr. Fried agrees to work with Deborah and help her choose Earth over Yr.
• Deborah cuts her wrist again at the hospital and gets sent to the D ward.
• Deborah learns to trust Dr. Fried. She works through her past issues, and we learn about her life before the hospital.
• Deborah starts to let go of Yr, but she gets punished for it by being thrown into Yr's Pit, which cuts her off from being able to communicate with people around her in the real world.
• Deborah becomes friends with a fellow patient named Carla, but she thinks she might poison Carla just by being around her. Yr convinces her this is true.
• Deborah gradually learns to side more with Earth than with Yr. The gods in Yr rebel against this, but Deborah holds her ground.
• Yr collides with Earth in a grand showdown that Deborah describes as a volcano exploding.
• Deborah starts burning herself with cigarettes because she feels in control of the pain and pressure inside of her by doing so.
• Deborah stops burning herself because one day she feels the actual pain of it and doesn't want to hurt herself anymore.
• Deborah rents a room outside the hospital and starts going to church choir meetings just to be around healthy people in the world.
• Deborah earns her GED three years after she was admitted to the hospital.
• Deborah gets readmitted to the hospital when Yr and Earth collide again.
• Deborah says goodbye to Yr for good and commits to going back out into the world.
