Nick Adams

Pretending for a moment that we don't know that "Indian Camp" is a part of what became the Nick Adams stories, we learn fairly quickly that Nick is our main character because, quite simply, his view seems to be the one that matters. More importantly than being our observer (more on that in our "Narrator Point of View" section), though, Nick is the character who is really going to come out changed from what he observes: the story ends with Nick's reformulated view of himself.
