Brain Snacks: Tasty Tidbits of Knowledge
All right, we tried desperately to confirm that the The Killers (the band) took their name from Hemingway but…we couldn’t. So until one of you gets us Brandon Flowers’s phone number, let’s just take it as a potentially very cool fun fact. OK?
As you’ve probably heard by now, Hemingway wrote "The Killers" in a single morning. On the same day, he also wrote "Ten Indians" and "Today is Friday."
Ava Gardner, who starred in the 1946 film adaptation of "The Killers," also starred in two other Hemingway adaptations: The Sun Also Rises and The Snow of Kilimanjaro.
The 1964 film The Killers was Ronald Reagan's last acting role before he went into politics. He supposedly hated the film because it contains a scene where he slaps Angie Dickinson. (He plays a bad guy, if you couldn’t tell.)
