David Grann Timeline & Summary

While researching for an article, David Grann becomes obsessed with obsessive explorer Percy Fawcett.
Grann kisses his wife goodbye and flies off to England to do some research on the missing explorer.
At the Royal Geographic Society, Grann pores through Fawcett's journals. Just don't pour any water on them. Those are fragile documents.
Grann meets a descendent of Fawcett, who shows him a secret diary. The diary gives Grann an idea of where Fawcett's last destination may have been.
To prepare for the jungle, David Grann goes shopping. Cue trying-on-clothes montage.
In Brazil, Grann meets with James Lynch, who was kidnapped in the jungle back in 1996.
After getting advice from Lynch ("Don't get kidnapped"), Grann does more research in Rio.
Finally, with a GPS and a pro samba dancer as guide (because obviously), Grann trucks it into the jungle.
Grann meets Vajuvi, chief of the Kalapalos, who says that his people attempted to help Fawcett years ago—but that days after Fawcett left his village, all signs of him vanished.
Grann visits that village, but he gets lost on the way, giving him the opportunity to experience for a brief moment what Fawcett's expeditions were really like.
In the next village, Grann meets an anthropologist named Michael Heckenberger, who lives among the Kuikuro tribe. What the heckenberger?
Heckenberger takes Grann into the jungle and shows him what he believes to be evidence of a long-lost civilization.
Grann imagines he has finally found Z. Now he can return home.
