(3) Base Camp
The hardest thing about this book is the occasional slip into Appalachian-speak—other than that, you have a fairly easy read ahead of you. There's still the occasional head-scratcher, though. For instance, when you run into M.C. hearing ghosts, you might wonder if this is really happening. The answer is yes. M.C. communes with the ghosts around him, and he also knows exactly what his best friend Ben is doing, thinking, and feeling without even being close to Ben. So just accept that the supernatural is real for the characters in this book, and you'll be fine.
