Protagonist: Summer

Spunky Summer is definitely the protagonist of Missing May—on top of being the narrator, she's also the one trying to make things work following Aunt May's untimely death. Uncle Ob is kind of lost and depressed, but Summer is determined to make sure that their little family stays together, and that she keeps him alive despite his broken heart. Even though she's just twelve years old, Summer is wise beyond her years and takes on lots of responsibilities that a normal kid wouldn't. In the end, she's also the one that Aunt May sends a message to from beyond the grave, bringing closure to everyone.
