Abilene doesn't really have any one person actively working against her. What she does have is a whole town full of people who don't want to talk. To her or to anyone. About anything.

Abilene is looking for answers—she wants to know about her dad, she's looking for the Rattler, she wonders about the town's past. And the only person who'll tell her anything is Miss Sadie, who's taking her own sweet time about it. So Abilene has to come up with sneaky ways of getting clues and information to get around these tight-lipped Manifest folks.
