Naomi Nakane

Who else could it be? Aunt Emily would love to steal her spot, but Naomi is the unchallenged protagonist. Obasan is her story, told through her eyes. She has enough things to deal with because of the internment and the death of her father, but she also has to come to terms with being molested and her mother's experience of the Nagasaki bombing. That's one heck of a journey, and we are right there experiencing it with her.
