• Kendra and her mom go to the Miss Teen Spirit of the West pageant in Elko, Nevada. On the drive there, her mom says she found out that Kendra's ex-boyfriend, Conner, tried to kill himself.
• Kendra's been told he was in a regular hospital, not a psych hospital, so she texts Cara to ask if Conner attempted suicide, and Cara admits it.
• Kendra still loves Conner, even though he broke up with her, and she spends the rest of the book alternating between being angry with him and blaming herself.
• Because her life is hard to deal with, she seeks refuge in the medicine cabinet, where she falls in love with Percocet.
• She signs with a new modeling agent, Xavier, who gets her hooked on diet pills.
• Her dad invites her and Jenna to lunch, where he tells them he's getting married to Shiloh, the woman for whom he left their mother. Kendra takes more Percocet in response.
• She goes for her nose job, where she learns she's too thin for anesthesia. Dr. Kane suggests inpatient treatment, but Kendra and her mom refuse.
