Chris Taylor

Chris Taylor is the first major character we meet in the film, and he is the source of the voiceovers that pop up from time to give us updates on the action. The film dramatizes his gradual transformation from a naïve college kid into a battle-hardened veteran, disillusioned with the war in Vietnam and capable of the same horrors as just about everybody else (his killing of Barnes, while dramatically satisfying and certainly warranted, isn't exactly something a "normal" person would do). This is his film, all the way.
