  1. Origin of the Trope
    Not surprisingly, Pygmalion the play derives some of its major themes from "Pygmalion" the Greek myth. They're similar, but ultimately also pretty different, and this is well worth exploring with your class. Let us help you.

    The Myth of Pygmalion has many different imitators. Some, like Shaw's play, are commentaries on class, language, and female independence. Others are horror novels about the danger of science and stitching rotting body parts together. To each their own.
