We don't leave Jeff's side during the entire movie, which is a pretty good indicator of who our hero is. He's ultimately out to do the right thing, peeping Tom proclivities notwithstanding, and we're rooting for him to succeed—sharing in some of his darker desires even when we disapprove of him and being scared for him when Thorwald finally figures out what's going on.
