Ji-li Jiang

This isn't much of a head-scratcher. Ji-li is our narrator, main character, and go-to girl for all the details on the Cultural Revolution. It's her story that we're reading the entire time, so it's only natural that she's the protagonist. We see her grow up a little and figure out her place among her friends. She's also keen to tell us exactly how she feels about everything that's going down. Translation? We get to know her really well. She's definitely our girl.
