David Marcus & Lieutenant Saavik (Merritt Butrick and Robin Curtis)’s Timeline and Summary

Saavik and David study Genesis from the USS Grissom.
While scanning the planet, they pick up an unknown life signs and beam down to investigate.
They discover the life signs are microbes from Captain Spock's burial tube. They must have evolved into…whatever those things are.
They check the burial tube and discover it's empty. Dun, dun, dunnn.
Following another life sign, Saavik and David find a nine-year-old Vulcan boy and inform the Grissom they've found a resurrected Spock.
When the Grissom is destroyed, they head for shelter.
David admits he used protomatter in the Genesis matrix and that's why the whole planet is messed up.
Saavik helps Spock endure pon farr while David investigates the enemies on the planet.
All three are captured by Kruge.
Saavik is chosen to be executed but David jumps in at the last second. He dies because he brought bare knuckles to a knife fight.
Later, Kirk saves Saavik because he was savvy enough to bring a gun to the knife fight.
Saavik goes with Kirk and his crew to Vulcan and witnesses Spock's refusion.
