Sadima Killip Timeline and Summary

The day of Sadima's birth is the day of her mother's death. Ugh.
Sadima's dad is distant, but Sadima's brother Micah helps lovingly raise her. Still, Sadima knows that she's different from everyone else: she can hear the thoughts of animals.
She meets a guy named Franklin who says he has abilities like hers, and a few years later, when her dad is dead, she goes to Limòri to find him like he'd said to.
Sadima starts living with Franklin and his master, Somiss, who's trying to bring magic back into the world. She cooks and cleans for them, and eventually begins to do copying for Somiss (secretly teaching herself to read in the process).
Sadima tries to stand up for Franklin and herself, but the situation with Somiss keeps getting weirder.
When she tracks Franklin to the underground location of Somiss's secret project, Sadima is horrified to learn that Franklin is helping Somiss lock up beggar boys in order to start a school for magic.
Sadima loves Franklin and wants him to come away with her, but Franklin refuses, so Sadima says she'll stay with him—if Franklin agrees to let her kill Somiss if he gets out of hand.
Sadima notices a fire spreading through their house, and the three of them manage to escape. They steal a carriage and ride into the wilderness. Where to go? Somiss's secret underground lair, of course. Sadima decides to stick it out in order to be near Franklin.
