Miro is Novinha's oldest child; he is the son of Libo, though he believes he is Marcao's child.
Marcao and Miro have a very unpleasant relationship.
Miro apprentices himself to Libo, working alongside him and Ouanda despite his mother's objections.
Libo begins to help the piggies with human technology, especially food when there is a shortage.
The piggies kill Libo, and Miro calls for a Speaker for the Dead to speak his death.
Miro and Ouanda continue to provide the piggies with technology.
Miro and Ouanda fall in love and plan to marry, despite Novinha's objections.
Marcao dies; Miro is relieved.
Ender arrives soon thereafter; he determines to speak Marcao's death at the request of Ela, Miro's sister.
Ender speaks Marcao's death and reveals that Miro and Ouanda are half-siblings and cannot marry.
Starways discovers that Miro and Ouanda are giving the piggies technology and declares plans to evacuate the colony. The fence is charged so no one can go out to the piggies.
With the help of piggie anesthetic, Miro tries to climb the fence. He ends up with permanent brain damage and is partially paralyzed though.
Jane befriends Miro.
Miro decides to go into space on a near-light speed ship to meet Valentine and help plan for the arrival of Starways ships.
