Pipo (Joao Figueira Alvarez) Timeline & Summary

Pipo's daughter Maria dies in the Descolada plague.
Pipo sympathizes with Novinha when he sees that she is alienated by the celebration following her parents' death and the cure of the Descolada.
Pipo takes his young son Libo on as his apprentice in his xenological work.
Pipo gives Novinha the test to become a xenobiologist when she is thirteen.
Novinha, Pipo, and Libo become very close as they work together.
Novinha shows Pipo her research on the Descolada, and Pipo realizes that the piggies have the virus and that it changes them into trees.
Mandachuva realizes that this means that humans aren't stronger than piggies, just different. Mandachuva is rewarded by the Wives by being given the opportunity to go on to the third life as a tree.
Pipo won't kill Mandachuva, so Mandachuva thinks he must kill Pipo to make him a tree.
Pipo dies.
Novinha calls for Ender to speak Pipo's death.
