Dr. Murchison (Leo G. Carroll)’s Timeline and Summary
- Murchison, the head of Green Manors, has a nervous breakdown. The Board decides to replace him with Dr. Edwardes.
- The unstable Dr. Murchison becomes even more unstable. He goes and has an argument with Edwardes.
- Then he stalks him while he's skiing and shoots him.
- But then, to what must be Murchison's great surprise, a guy shows up at Green Manors claiming to be Edwardes.
- "Edwardes" is really John Ballantyne, a patient of Edwardes' who saw the shooting, but (luckily for Murchison) got amnesia and thought he was Edwardes.
- Ballantyne's discovered as an impostor and is blamed for the murder. Police pursue him.
- All seems to be going swimmingly for Murchison.
- Unfortunately, Constance Petersen, a doctor at Green Manors, falls in love with Ballantyne and eventually cures him.
- Ballantyne still ends up going to jail, though. Phew.
- But, oops, Murchison lets slip to Constance that he knew Edwardes at one time, which means he was faking when he pretended to be taken in by the impostor.
- Constance confronts Murchison. He threatens to shoot her.
- But then he ends up letting her go and committing suicide instead.
- That's it for Dr. Murchison.
