Rey (Daisy Ridley)’s Timeline and Summary

Rey (Daisy Ridley)’s Timeline and Summary

  • Rey finds bits of junk in a crashed Star Destroyer, which she trades for frivolous luxuries like food.
  • She comes across BB-8 in the desert and reluctantly takes him in after chasing off the alien critter trying to claim him for resale on Junkyard eBay.
  • The next morning, they head to the local town (and we use the term loosely) to find BB-8's contact.
  • Her fence, Unkar Plutt, offers a bunch of dried, edible crud in exchange for the droid. She politely declines…even though food isn't something she gets nearly enough of.
  • Unkar's thugs try to take BB-8, but she thumps them…and in the process, bumps into Finn.
  • Rey continues the thumping, this time with Finn. He's wearing Poe's jacket, and BB-8 thinks he stole it.
  • He smooths things over and claims to be part of the Resistance. He says he can get the droid to the right people, and she believes him.
  • Their delightful exchange is interrupted by a TIE fighter attack.
  • After the cool ship gets blown up, she and Finn head toward the local junker…which just so happens to be the Millennium Falcon.
  • She flies, while Finn shoots. After a fun-filled chase, they blast the TIE fighters and head for the stars...
  • …only to get picked up by a very large freighter operated by none other than Han Solo.
  • Han gets grumpy but seems to like her, mostly because she can fly the ship and refrained from gassing him with poison when he came aboard.
  • He takes them to Maz's place to figure out where they need to go next.
  • She finds her way down to the basement, where Anakin and Luke's old lightsaber sits in a trunk.
  • The lightsaber grants her a vision of Ren destroying the Jedi academy, a confrontation in a forest, and that whole Cloud City unpleasantness from The Empire Strikes Back.
  • She comes out of the vision to find Maz looking at her, saying that the lightsaber is calling to her.
  • Rey refuses to take the call but is interrupted by the arrival of the First Order.
  • She runs into the woods, followed by BB-8. When the attack starts, she holds off the advancing troops while her little beach ball friend escapes.
  • The stormtroopers she can handle. Kylo Ren? Not so much.
  • The dark Jedi knocks her out with his Force mojo and takes her back to Starkiller Base.
  • He probes her mind for information, only to find her probing his mind right back.
  • While he retreats to get advice from his master, she finds a new Force power to play with and orders her guard to release her.
  • Wandering the base looking for an escape, she runs into Finn, Han, and Chewie, who came to rescue her.
  • She watches, horrified, when Ren cuts down Han Solo, and then retreats to the Falcon.
  • Ren blocks her way and throws her against a tree.
  • Finn tries to defend her with Luke's lightsaber (which he conveniently brought along), but he gets cut down.
  • Rey awakens and rallies in time to Force-nab the lightsaber away from Ren, then throws down in the film's Designated Lightsaber Duel.
  • She harshes Ren's mellow before a fissure in the ground splits them apart, and then she retreats to the Falconwith Chewie and the injured Finn in tow.
  • She arrives at Resistance headquarters, grief-hugs Leia, and picks up the map to Luke from BB-8 and R2-D2.
  • She, Chewie, and R2 head to Luke's secret location: an island mountain where the first Jedi Temple is located.
  • She climbs the steps to find Luke, then holds out his lightsaber to him as the movie ends.
