Then there's this guy. What can be said about Sykes that the narrator and characters haven't already eloquently stated? It's apparent that he's the thorn in Delia's side, the bad guy, the one we wish would, well, croak.

We have to wonder, though…why does it take Delia fifteen years to finally kick him out? After all, he beats her, cheats on her and slings verbal nastiness without a second thought. At least we get to be there when it all comes to an end.
