    Beloved it partially a ghost story and partially a story about the love people can have for each other. Regardless, this is just good storytelling. Even Oprah knows, because she made a movie about it. So if you have a kid who can't get enough of Morrison's work, send them our way.

    Song of Solomon is the novel that scored Morrison the Nobel Prize in literature. It's a story of the black experience in America and follows Macon "Milkman" Dead from birth to a potential and literary death. It's unclear if he died or not, but it's a brilliant turn from Morrison's pen.
