Protagonist
Character Role Analysis
Subtle, Face, Doll Common
Con artists can be protagonists too, you know—if they're charismatic enough to part a fool from his money, they're definitely charismatic enough to watch do their thing for a few hours.
Even though Subtle, Face, and Doll are a trio of low-life grifters, it's their story that we're most concerned with in this play and, truth be told, we're sort of rooting for them. Plus, it doesn't hurt that a lot of their victims are greedy—just check out Mammon and Wholesome.
