Father is definitely Parvana's inspiration, and his story of Malali inspires her to be strong when he is away in prison. Parvana never gives up hope that he will return, and she follows his model when it's time for her to work in the marketplace—even from his prison cell, Father inspires Parvana, and helps her keep her family strong.
