Antagonist
Character Role Analysis
Socrates
Socrates seems like a nice enough guy, but his school does more harm than good once everything is all said and done. Plus, he spends a lot of the play at odds with our protagonist, trying (and failing) to get him to learn something at the Thinkery. It's a contentious relationship for sure, and Socrates eventually grows so frustrated with Strepsiades that he drops him as a student.
