Moods and Maybes
- The next week, Toby and Ken approach the girls at school and discuss playing the Egypt Game. They all have to consult with their parents to see if they're allowed to play outside again without parental supervision.
- They don't get the go-ahead until Thursday, but the parents do agree that they can't keep the kids cooped up forever. (Thank goodness.)
- On Thursday, the girls and Marshall are already apprehensive about what it will be like to add Ken and Toby to the Egypt Game.
- On top of that, April is in a terrible mood because she's received a letter from her mother.
- Dorothea has not called April to come back to Los Angeles and live with her, after all. Instead, she tells April that she's moved in with Nick, her agent, and that there's not enough room in the apartment for April to live with them.
- Ouch.
- When they meet up with Toby and Ken, the boys don't take the whole Egypt Game as a joke (like the girls have feared) after all. In fact, they seem pretty into it.
- They have lots of questions to ask about the altars and rituals that the kids have come up with, and even ask for book recommendations so that they can learn more about Egypt.
- Maybe this won't be so bad after all.
