Katharine and Kip

Both Katharine and Kip teach people how to love. Katharine teaches Almásy, and Kip teaches Hana.

However, Katharine and Almásy's love is passionate and destructive, while Kip and Hana's love is tender and rebuilding. Katharine and Almásy's love is more like war itself: tearing people—and nations—apart as a result. But Hana and Kip help each other by loving each other, and they don't end up damaged in the process either. They are able to let each other go… with the hope that they may see each other again.
