Our speaker today is (we assume from the context clues) a boy who, if we can read between the lines—or should we say, sheets?—just spent a night of nonstop scoring with his lady friend. But now it's a new day and this dude has turned from sexy fun times to sober meditations. He's philosophizing about true love and why it's all-consuming, how it has a tendency to wipe out the rest of the world and make you content to stare into your lover's eyes.
Donne never wrote from a woman's perspective, and "The Good Morrow" is no exception. But this speaker is all about union and connection. In essence, he seems to be in love with love. In fact, he even gets down with this soul-binding on a sound level. The whole first stanza is positively littered with "we" sounds. Head over to "Sound Check" for the deets.
