What: another dead guy?

Yeah, unfortunately. That's bound to happen with this many skeletons in one movie.

Chester is Mikey's foil because he set out on the same exact adventure that Mikey has taken on…only he didn't do so well. Showing that Chester—an older, experienced treasure-hunter—couldn't get nearly as far as the Goonies could makes the kids' success all the more remarkable.

Chester may have paved the way though, getting a nasty booby trap or two out of the way before Mikey's crew hit the scene. Guess we'll never know…but our gut tells us he didn't die of old age in that tunnel.
