Michael "Mikey" Walsh (Sean Astin)’s Timeline and Summary
- Mikey is hanging out at home with big brother Brand, and one-by-one is joined by his friends and fellow Goonies Mouth, Chunk and Data.
- Up in the Walsh attic, Mikey and Co. discover some ancient artifacts that hint at an old pirate treasure still hidden somewhere in Astoria.
- Mikey sees this as the chance for his family—and his friends' families—to fend off the greedy, corporate wolves who want to foreclose on several area homes and turn the property into a golf course.
- After detaining his brother Brand, who has been asked to keep an eye on him, Mikey leads his friends down to the beach, where the map, along with a doubloon (both discovered in the attic), point them to a seasonal restaurant that is currently…not in season.
- Inside the restaurant, the Goonies encounter the Fratellis, a trio of known local criminals who clearly don't have a "no women, no kids" policy.
- The Goonies manage to avoid having anything shot, stabbed or slashed, but decide to re-enter the restaurant anyway once the Fratellis have driven away. They discover some sort of creature living in the basement, as well as the entrance to an underground passageway, which of course they begin to explore. No guts, no glory.
- The Goonies make their way through the tunnels, encountering pipes that have sprung a few leaks, an underground wishing well, booby traps, bats, the most terrifying musical instrument of all time, water slides, and more. It's like Disneyland without the entrance fee.
- Finally, the Goonies are deposited into a large lagoon, in which sits a pirate ship, loaded with treasure. Mikey meets Willy, and the two share a moment. If we're being honest, Mikey seems more into it.
- The Fratellis catch up with them, and there is a fierce standoff. Coming to the rescue is Sloth—the creature from the basement of the restaurant. His heroic antics buy the Goonies enough time to escape from the cave before Willy's final booby trap turns the entire place to rubble.
- The Goonies arrive back on shore and are reunited with their families. However, thanks to the Fratellis, they weren't able to nab any of the treasure before escaping…or so they think. A handful of jewels is discovered inside Mikey's marble bag, and it will be more than enough to save the town from the horror of having to play golf.
