"The Hours"

If your enemy is time itself, you're fighting a losing battle. Unless, of course, you're a Time Lord, a member of the Q Continuum, or a resistance leader from 2029 who for some reason has access to a time machine.

When it comes right down to it, there's no real antagonist in The Hours. Each of the novel's characters is faced with the same reality that all human beings have to confront at some time or other: Our hours on this earth will sometimes seem too short; at other times, they may seem too long.
