• Ms. Grace, a television actress, has a child by the King of the Gods, Zeus. The child is named Thalia.
• Five years later, Zeus returns to Ms. Grace in his Roman aspect of Jupiter, and Jason is born.
• Jupiter's wife, Juno (or Hera), is angered that Zeus had two children by the same woman.
• To appease Juno, Jupiter promises Jason to her service.
• Jupiter leaves Ms. Grace, and Ms. Grace becomes less and less stable.
• Ms. Grace brings Jason to the Wolf House at Juno's command when Jason is two.
• Thalia believes Ms. Grace has abandoned Jason. She calls the police on her mother and eventually runs away from home (she is the ripe old age of seven).
• Jason is raised by the Roman wolf god Lupa. He survives her tests and goes to the Roman camp for demigods. (Even by the end of the book we know very little about this part of his life.)
• Jason awakens on a bus with no memory of his past. He is with Piper, who thinks she is his girlfriend, and Luke, who thinks he is his friend.
• Jason, Luke, and Piper learn that their past together is false.
• Even though he isn't her boyfriend, Piper still has feelings for Jason.
• They discover that Hera took Jason's memories. The three go on a quest to free her and prevent the rising of Gaea, the ancient evil goddess of earth.
• After many trials, they defeat Gaea and free Hera.
• Piper and Jason seem on the verge of becoming a couple.
• Jason plans to return to the Roman camp for demigods, where he believes he will find a hero named Percy Jackson who has been missing throughout the book.
