• Erasmus Gray brings the doc a girl's corpse and a dead Anthropophagus. Yippee.
• Doc does a detailed necropsy, discovering the cause of death (of the creature, that is—the girl was already dead).
• He becomes consumed with the question of how the Anthropophagi must have gotten to New Jerusalem.
• Dr. Warthrop leads an expedition with Erasmus and Will Henry to go back to the cemetery to do some research. There he shoots Erasmus Gray as an act of mercy because he was being eaten by one of the creatures (oh, and he was about to pull Will Henry in after him, and the doc can't be losing his services). They run for their lives.
• Dr. Warthrop beings researching all the ways the Anthropophagi could have gotten to New Jerusalem (and he's desperately avoiding the one possible answer that makes the most sense).
• Dr. Warthrop goes through a trunk of his father's things to find clues, and they lead him to embark on a trip to Motley Hill Sanitarium.
• But first he goes back to the cemetery to clean up their mess and count footprints. There are definitely more beasts than he anticipated. Whoops.
• Warthrop interrogates the smarmy Dr. Starr and then interviews Captain Varner about his experience on board the Feronia.
• Varner asks Dr. Warthrop to kill him but he's unable to because of a moral quandary so instead he just sits with Varner as he dies.
• Dr. Warthrop is summoned to Reverend Stinnet's house to shed some light on their gruesome murders.
• Malachi tries to kill Dr. Warthrop when he finds out that the doc knew about the Anthropophagi. The doc continues to insist he isn't to blame.
• They all perform the "Maori Protocol" to slaughter the Anthropophagi. The doc and Will Henry save the woman Kearns used as bait.
• Warthrop is finally forced to admit that his father had to have orchestrated the Anthropophagi's presence when the door to their den is in his father's mausoleum and he learns that the key was in his old shrunken head. Whomp whomp.
• They all go down into the creatures' lair to find and kill the matriarch and any lingering juveniles.
• Dr. Warthrop, Kearns, and Will Henry go back to Motley Hill to question Starr again, and they finally get the whole story before Kearns kills Starr.
• He performs his monthly check-up on Will Henry and confirms that he's okay despite his infestation with B. arawakus.
• Dr. Warthrop buys Will Henry a new hat. Aw.
