The Pearl Narrator:

Who is the narrator, can she or he read minds, and, more importantly, can we trust her or him?

Third Person (Omniscient)

With this omniscient point of view, we get the benefit of hearing multiple perspectives and opinions. The text spends a lot of time observing, reporting from a distance on the goings on of the town, but it also gets us into the heads of Kino, Juana, the doctor, and even gives us access to the thoughts of minor characters like the priest.
