• Boon just sort of appears one day at Major de Spain's hunting camp.
• Boon is already grown and tall, even for a teenaged boy. He's quickly taken in by all the town locals and put to work on the hunting grounds.
• Boon eventually falls under the wing of Boss Priest, who puts him up in a place in town and employs him as a retainer on his farm.
• The years go by, and Boon becomes close with Grandfather's family, including eleven-year-old Lucius Priest.
• Boon is fascinated by cars, particularly one that drives into town about a year before Grandfather purchases his Winton Flyer.
• Boon decides the car is his soul mate, and he learns everything there is to know about it.
• Grandfather trusts the car to Boon's care, and all is well.
• When Lucius's other grandfather passes away in St. Louis, Boon is the first to tell him.
• Boon also uses the opportunity to tell Lucius about his plan to drive the car to Memphis. At this time, he knows it's to go see Miss Corrie, but he withholds this information from Lucius.
• Boon succeeds in convincing Lucius to take the car with him, and about ten miles into their adventure, the two discover the stowaway Ned in the back of the car.
• Boon is livid, mainly because he doesn't want to share the car with anybody, but he reluctantly agrees to allow Ned to come to Memphis.
• Upon arrival in Memphis, Boon takes Lucius to the brothel where they will be staying. He introduces Lucius to his lady friend, Miss Corrie.
• A voice outside shouts Boon's name, and he finds that it's Ned standing next to a horse.
• Boon is very angry when he learns that Ned had traded the car for a stolen racehorse.
• Boon agrees to go along with Ned's plan to race the horse for money to buy the car back, but he's confused about why the car was sold in the first place.
• After the first horse race, Boon is arrested, along with Lightning and Ned, by Butch.
• When Miss Corrie submits to Butch, Boon is released. Boon learns what happened and beats up Butch.
• Boon sees the horse through victory and then loss, and upon the arrival of Grandfather to the tracks, he goes back with him, Ned, and Miss Corrie to Jefferson.
• Boon marries Miss Corrie and names his first son after Lucius.
